Pictures speak a thousand words and this is often the case when gazing into an engine bay with all the right goodies. Intercoolers, intake and exhaust manifolds, wastegates, and custom piping all come together in harmony. These under-bonnet monsters are candy for the eyes as well as other senses. Each one of these was built to perform, but they are also a great way to examine how a well thought out turbo set up should look. Most importantly each engine bay has a massive turbo high mounted for your viewing pleasure. This is truly fodder for any hardcore turbo freak. The golden child of the 4 cylinder scene at the moment, with the potential to produce some awe-inspiring numbers, this turbo set up introduces its driver to lag, but once it is pumping, it doesn’t leave any bullets in the chamber.

The 2.5 litre Toyota engine is a great engine to stick a single turbo onto. The bottom end can withstand a thrashing and as you can see from the photo, shoe-horning a large motor such as this into a minute engine bay is always a good way to make sure that you feel every single raw kilowatt.

The double “T” can be taken out in this instance. A HKS single turbo has replaced the stock twin set up and now the granddaddy of Nissan engines is a bonafide drag weapon. This engine bay is all go and no show, just like it should be.

One look at that intake plenum leaves little doubt in ones mind of the intent of this CA18DET. More inclined to rev than a SR20, this CA18 makes up for its 200cc deficit with some clever tuning and modding... and a great big hair dryer. Plus it looks pretty as hell too.

The little brother of the RB26DET, the RB25DET is an engine not to be overlooked. This particular example features a few goodies such as the custom plenum for increased airflow and a tuned length manifold. Definitely a tough turbo engine.
