Car details

Make - VOLKSWAGEN
Model - BEETLE

Mods

Year - 1966
Muffler & Exhaust - Stock
Wheels - Stock (front), later model (rear)
Bodykits & Styling - removed runner boards temporarily and can't get them back on.
Interior - Rubbish.
Engine management & Electronics - I manage the engine quite well thanks. Electronic ignition was stolen from my brother's Baja. He still doesn't know, and Zaphod is about 700% better for it.
Induction - Hall of Fame '99
Lighting & Accessories - My internal light works great, and I have a cool dangly thing hanging of the rear-view mirror.
Engine - Internal - 1300
Engine - External bolt on - Jumper leads might as well be bolted on, I have to attach them so often.
Suspension - None whatsoever. It's great fun.
Brake & Clutch - Brakes are reasonably effective when I remember to top up the brake fluid that dissapears rapidly through the leaky lines. When I remember, the brakes are good. When I don't, it's nice to find a quick uphill sidestreet.
Car Audio & Entertainment - Custom stereo install in glove box. Fake stereo install in stereo-hole. Music is entertaining.
Cooling - Air-cooled.
Performance - Wednesday-Saturday plus Sunday matinee
Quarter Mile - Usually makes it.

Favourites

Take a look at my favourite rides by others:

Zaphod

Found: $500 from a farmer in Taree.

Removed: engine, gearbox, rear and front axles, seats, lights and wheel arches... so there he was a naked tincan with a steering wheel...

Replaced: gear box mount, seals for swing axles, clutch cable, 6volt Generator with 12 volt unit and then all light bulbs. mechanical vacuum distributor with electronic distributor. rear drums with four stud drums to take late model phatties.

Installed: new rear wheels seals, spark plugs, leads and coil. Stripped and cleaned carburettor. Replaced front axle, wheel bearings, kingpins, brake cylinders and realigned steering.

Paintjob: Three days of solid pulling apart and sanding. Sprayed matte green with a borrowed gun and compressor. Got chrome eyelids for headlights and with a new stereo thrown in the glovebox he was ready to go.

Re-spray (first one is peeling as we used wrong basecoat).
New windscreen wipers (don't underestimate how much I'm looking forward to this)
Finally get runner boards back on. Preferably chrome ones.
Interiooooorrrrrrrr!
