…And the leader is Uniden, who has just released the GNS 8350, which will do more than just direct you from A to B. It is a three-in-one device, functioning as a navigation system, early warning system and multi-media player. The navigation mode is packed with just about every street, suburb and point-of-interest (including restaurants, banks, and post offices) that you can think of – and then some! The warning system is like an extension of the navigation mode and will alert you of upcoming black spots, speed cameras, and red-light cameras. When you’ve finished travelling for the day and are feeling bored, the GNS 8350 can then provide entertainment in the form of music, videos or images, which can be loaded onto the device via an SD memory-card slot. The 3.5in LCD touch-screen isn’t to be sneezed at either, since it is non-reflective, allowing crystal-clear viewing even when under direct sunlight, but can also be viewed at night-time as well thanks to a backlight. With an RRP of $699, you had best be heading over to your nearest electronic retailer to buy a GNS 8350 for yourself. Available in mid-October, get saving.
