hey ppl im sorta new 2 the 4 cyl seen so ive been doin a bit of reserch about my toyota camry engine
does any1 know if the 5s-fe engine an the 3s-gte engines r similar in anyway as both engines came out in the celica so i just wanna know if they share the ssame sorta head designs cause that will make turbo'in miine that much ezyer
plus i would also like 2 know some more about the gt4 drive line wether its predominitly front or rear wheel drive, an wether the gearbox will bolt up 2 the 5s-fe engine or if i have 2 swap the engine as well cheers

Many moons ago I read reviews of the altis. It stated there the 1.6 was a smoother more refined engine than the 1.8. It would be worthwhile driving both to see if the 1.6 is powerful enough. If you drive a lot in town the auto would do, but the manual will better usilise what power the engine has. I can't comment more than that as I've never driven either:) I've followed 1.6 altises in my 2.0 civic and I can tell you they are deciptively quick for their small engine size.

you dont know it needs a new engine. it might not.amy mitsker might not know diddle.
make sure it has a good battery, plenty of oil and plenty of water . then hire a mechanic to try to crank it for you.
you may have bought a good car that someone else just doesnt know how to deal with.

i got a 91 celica that got the 5sfe in it and i am putting a head off a 3sgte onto my block have a look at this link it should help u heaps it tells u pretty much all u need to no to do this conversion.
