mitsubishi mirage rim sizes

hey guys, now this is my 2nd post on here in a while concerning rims,
umm ive moved up from my charade to a 98 mirage.
now i have 17s with 17/205 40 tyres just wondering will they fit without needing to roll guards or anything, the reason im asking is because i dont yet have wheel nuts to test them. also would 18s with 18/205 40s fit? if so would this be legal and would the guards need to be modified to fit.

i dont have Much Idea About Rims But i suggest you get an advice from a expert,

The 17's SHOULD fit but dont hold it to me, and you will need to roll the guards! 18's most probably wont fit without massive rub and trouble. But this all depends on suspension aswell, are you running stock or are you low? because this will affect your options bigtime

Tire Rack says nothing bigger than a 17". If you go any bigger you will need a fender roll or else you will scrape the tire on the body of the car every time you go over a speed bump/turn/bump in the road/heavy people in the back.
