I notice Subway system in N.American are lagging behind as of rolling stock (NYC is o.k) and station safety.

When most system gets new rolling stock in Europe, Asia. For example the London Underground (a old system) got MOVIA train from bombardier which has open gangway. Why does N.American system still have to stick with married pair (except TTC Toronto Rocket). In a way open gangway will help during rush hour, because people could enter in any section of the train and walk around. I notice all new rolling stock outside N.American has open gangway.

As of station safety, why can't they install platform screen doors in subway line, they don't have to do it in every single station, maybe underground station only. Station would be much safer, and also prevent from setting the track on fire. Also I see train leaving train with platform screen doors much faster then w/o it.

As of Headway some city are just unacceptable. For example I live in Boston, on rush hour (at peak) I have wait at least 6-9 min or more for a train. During the day time is around 12-13 min and the Week day expect to wait 16-20 per train and the Week day expect to wait 16-20 per train. According to the MBTA schedule. But when I ride on the T I wait 10 min for rush hours, 15-20 mid day, and 20-25 (even sometime 30 min) for week ends. This is unacceptable for me. Sometime you can even wait over an hour for a train.

Other system that has around the same size to the MBTA has a much better headway. 2 min (at peak) 3/4 min (rush hours) 5-7 (mid.day, week ends) compare to MBTA these headway are like heaven to me. I ride on over 10+ system around the world (MTA, London Underground, Guangzhou Metro, MTR, Shanghai Metro, Paris Metro, Tokyo Subway, Beijing Subway, TTC) and the headway are pretty good.

I don't see why can't N.American be a better system. Subway are much more eco friend then driving a car. Some people start driving again, because of how long they have to wait for a train. Sorry about how I keep talking about how bad the MBTA is.

But I see, N.American could improve their subway system.
