Hypothetical: The world can only have ONE type of music. Hip Hop or House.

So tell us what side you're on and why. What's good about your side, what's not good about the other?
How would you like to see the other music disposed of?
Which sounds best played out a car? Why?

Note: We don’t want to start any wars here, so remember, it’s all in good fun with tongue planted firmly in cheek.

are we allowed to choose a time period?
because if it was now i'd go House but ultimately it'll be:
Hip Hop... 90s Hip Hop that is...

Aussie Hip Hop without a doubt. It has lyrical substance, and cool samples. as well as, you know, more than one person involved.
I'd like to see House Music suffer a Y2K style bug that wipes out all it's fad sounds.

Hip Hop's better out of a car. House Music makes me think my car is making funny noises and is about to break down.

Samples???
You should take Hip Hop 101 classes and listen to J Dilla (RIP), Pete Rock, DJ Premier, KRS-ONE, Q-Tip... and so on and so forth in the same purists sort of manner...

If it was only one type of music I'd have to choose metal...

Although between hip hop and house, as we currently stand house would win hands down. Hip hop these days (and in fact in 99% of other cases) is utter garbage. Lyrics are usually complete nonsense where all they do is find one word that rhymes with another, whether it fits the context or not.

The only semi decent hip hop I've heard is from the Hilltop hoods, but I still can't listen to any more than 2 songs in a row

yes samples.
Like Unkle Ho's stuff.
I don't know much about it so I can't get all "purist" but I know what I like. And usually when I hear something I like it's Unkle Ho, or a sample of some old song, or world music or something DIFFERENT. Not just computer created beats.
Strings work too. (True Live, Hoods restrung).
I like Q-Tip. He just rereleased an old album Kamaal the Abstract. you can listen to it on turntable lab.
